Hydrating Humanity is a faith based non-profit humanitarian organization providing safe, clean drinking water, hygiene training and hope for people in developing nations.”

VISION

Hydrating Humanity works to help make the world a place where all people have access to clean drinking water and sanitation; a world where people are not dying from water-borne diseases, but living abundantly, lives full of hope.

MISSION

Hydrating Humanity’s core mission is to see the poorest areas of the world realize REAL and lasting transformation at every level: economically, socially, spiritually and in physical health. We believe the most impactful spearhead into these communities is clean, safe water projects and hygiene education. Our mission is to eradicate the water-borne disease crisis, save lives, love people, build relationships and reveal Christ. It is easy to share the love of Christ with a culture who has just received such an awesome gift.

PART OF THE PROBLEM

There is an abundance of clean water in Africa. safe water is nearly everywhere in East Africa, yet people can’t get to it, even though they are walking on top of it every day. Ground water is almost always safe water. Many of the nearly 1 billion people who lack access to safe water live in East Africa. They can only dream of what we take for granted daily - water is life. In the west, our water problems are solved. Every one of us enjoys access to safe water. Others can only dream of what that would be like.

100 years ago, life in America was very different. The average life expectancy was only 48. Most of that was due to waterborne disease, the 2nd biggest killer in 1912. That's hard to fathom for most of us. We turn on the faucet or shower and there always seems to be an abundance of perfectly clean safe water for our consumption or use and most of us don’t even know one person who has died from a waterborne disease! The reason is simple: The diseases that come from dirty water are 100% preventable. Now that we in the West have figured that out, its time for us reach across and help the people that are still struggling in areas we have already overcome.

Clean water in Africa can be sustained as safe water for life when we teach hygiene in the villages where our new wells are constructed. We staff full time Hygiene Trainers to teach safe water for life principles at every new well. Our International Director personally inspects every newly completed project collecting GPS coordinates and color photographs that we readily make available to our donors. We are the only safe water for life charity that stands behind their projects with a fully integrated maintenance program. We inspect every well pump 1-2 times per year and provide repairs as needed to insure water for life for every village we serve. It has been estimated that 3800 hand pumps are broken at any given time in this part of the world. Often it is just a $7 cup washer. Not on our watch!

It’s so easy to just take a picture and move on. Hydrating Humanity is committed to lasting sustainable change. We rarely use subcontractors; we train our own local staff. We train water technicians for well construction and hygiene teachers as social workers providing jobs and insuring that we are helping local people solve local problems for themselves.

By partnering with Hydrating Humanity, you can literally reach across the seas and touch the poor on a daily basis without leaving your home or office.

We seek to keep admin costs as low as possible. Currently, we office out of the homes of our volunteer army which is growing daily. Volunteers who travel for Hydrating Humanity do so at their own expense.

Please know that even though we have attempted to include everything here, we know you will have questions and we want to answer them personally.
